After upgrading from zenphoto 1.2.3 to 1.2.7 through .4,.5,.6 there was a problem.

My Images and Albums tables were gone blank . Thanks to God that I had saved a backup for this.

Major Differences are here.

a)
Images table has not lots of modification in its structure.

Addition of fields was not a concern. However there was a field which was removed in the latest version. It was ExifValid field. So, to import from the previous version to the current one, I had to remove that field and import.
Query – ALTER TABLE `prefix_images` DROP `EXIFValid`

Yes, it was imported.

b) Albums table was imported easily.

c) Every other tables were OK.

d) There was one thing more added to the zenphoto core, it was zenpage_pages
….

Everything was fine, but still I could not see any albums in the gallery. It showed the number of images, but in Gallery it was 0.

The problem was, it was fetching images from the default albums folder, but not from the custom folder.

And the BULLSHIT Happened..
It removed all the previous information. The description of images, and all.

Findings
a) config file was moved.
One of the reason for not reading from custom folder was that Zenphoto added a new folder zp-data and the config file was there instead of zp-core/zp-config.php

And finally to import the original information.
a) Reconfigured the config file to point to custom album location
b) From Admin Refreshed the Database
c) Emptied albums and images tables from the Database
- this was required to reset the autoincrement
d) Pulled the albums database first
(the original information was restored)
e) Emptied the images table again
(because some images were already cached)
f) restored from the original database removing the field (EXIFValid) from the old table.

YES, It was finally Restored.

Thank you Zenphoto lol. (not for anything else, but for leaving atleast some clues to fix,).

Its almost three and half years, that I have been using Kubuntu, and have completely stopped using Windows. I love Linux and esp. Kubuntu Distro.

Whatever I do, I use linux applications. But sometimes, some third party software vendors do not release Linux versions, and I need to use them with WINE.

Still I dont need to switch to MS-Windows.

However, my firefox did not play the youtube video from the HTML5 page, i just made a quick play with it. Referring to this article at ajaxian http://ajaxian.com/archives/firefox-31-to-support-html-5-video-and-audio, I just copied the video tag code ,

and for quick results, just enabled firebug and inserted the video code to a site.

It was so cool to see the video being played. But I loved something more than the video just being played. Let me attach the screenshot first.

HTML 5 and the video tag

Most fascinating to me were the options I saw when I right-clicked over the video being played.

• Mute/Unmute
• Save Video As …
• Copy Video Locaton

Because there are even more, great tags/features included. some of them are

b) Drag and Drop
c) <nav> for navigation

… and much more,

If you want to try I have just embeded the video with the HTML5 video tag. If the browser you are using supports HTML5, you can see the video being played with just 3 lines of code. COOL.

This is how i solved it.

Problem Description
Navigation buttons and bookmarks in firefox wasn’t working. This happened when i opened around 20+ firefox windows at once.

Solution
I just use linux. In my kubuntu pc, i just did these two commands.


# cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/
# mv places.sqlite places.sqlite.bak
# mv places.sqlite-journal places.sqlite-journal.bak


And yes, in the next restart, it was just working.

Everyone is on their lappy and a bald professor giving his lecture on quantum computing! Someone who did not attend the session might think like that too!

Nepal (Kathmandu) saw its first Barcamp yesterday on 08th August, 09 Saturday here at Yala Maya Kendra, Lalitpur. BTW what was it? Its nothing big to start someone dreaming of a BAR with free BEER and a whole lot of freaks camping around with half naked, kissing and hanging around.

Huh!

Eventually, the word BARCAMP makes feel somewhat similar.

But, I understand it as a cool place to hang out with ideas forging around and each participant making a session in synergy. If you have anything to talk about, just register a session during the day and start deliberating. Eventually, the campers will assist you in moving forward with what deliberated.

WOW !

And yes, it was similar.

16 Sessions were something just amazing. Starting from a public invitation to “Stand for It”, to a realization of root to start up with the possibilities of “IT Industry in Nepal” .

Two others were where I was really enjoying. a) BCC (Behavioral Change Communication) and b) the Sanskrit one.

Everyone there was speaking at-least something. The lunch was simply AWESOME.

……

And aftermath of the event, I was very pleased to see some posts demanding for the next Barcamp in next 6 months period.
